Covid-19: FSA does not take responsibility for unlawful conduct

Free State Agriculture (FSA) considers the COVID-19 pandemic threatening the country and the world in a very serious light. FSA is therefore committed to adhering to the restriction and guidelines set by government to limit the spread of the virus.

FSA furthermore commits itself, as an essential service, to act responsibly at all times under circumstances to ensure that sufficient food will be available.

As we take responsibility with our members FSA has provided an identification permit, as provided for in the latest Regulations in terms of the Disaster Management Act of 2002, to our members who are bona fide producers to support and secure them and to ensure that the agricultural sector’s status as an essential service is not abused.

Any person or entity that uses the permit and does not appear on our database does so without permission and we do not accept responsibility for this objectionable conduct. Therefore, if such person or entity falsely pretends to be a bona fide producer, the law enforcement officers must act against such person or entity in terms of the relevant legislation.

Now is the time for everyone to stand together, work together and act responsibly to ensure our country, its people and its future.
